Blue Dragon BF HM x Blue Dragon HM

male by Aquastar x female by Aquastar
Spawned November 7, 2011

March 24, 2012 - I'm very happy with this spawn. I've sold a few females to Ontario (glad they arrived safely!) and jarred most, if not all, the males. There are a few that have weak dorsal fins which is disappointing, but they are mostly looking quite nice. The females are awesome! I have several females that are show quality fish which I hope to be able to send to a show this summer. Most of the males are looking nice and I'm hoping for a couple of them to be show quality. Time will tell as they develop more. They are all 90 - 100% full mask as well which makes me happy.

February 5, 2012 - These guys are growing nicely and it's still a big spawn. I have jarred well over a dozen males, and there are a couple that are going to be OHM finnage. The female are also looking very nice. Pictures will be coming soon - just need the boys to develop a little more before they're ready to go.

December 12, 2011 - At just a little over one month old most of these fry are at the 4-5 wks size. They are eating crushed flakes as well as BBS quite readily. I moved them into a larger tank with bottle filtration and they seem to be quite happy. The spawn is still very large - I estimate well over 150. Some are still quite small so I expect that they will be naturally culled by their siblings over the next few weeks. Survival of the fittest - it's not like I need 150 babies!

November 30, 2011 - These guys are developing so nicely. They are 3 weeks old now and easily the size of 3-4 week old fry. I have kept the father in with them so far in the hopes that he will cull out any weaker fry but there are still well over 100 fry in there I'm sure. They are already showing a blue tinge when under a light. I added a bottle filter to their tank last week to give them some filtration and to keep the water moving and this seems to have helped them in their growth. I'm moving them onto fine powder food now but will continue to keep up with the daily BBS feedings.

November 9, 2011 - There are alot more fry in there today than I saw eggs! I estimate well over 100 fry. Dad is being kept busy as his nest is disintegrating and they keep falling. I think I will be pleased with this spawn.

November 7, 2011 - This pair spawned for me today. The male is caring for hte eggs although there don't seem to be many in the nest. I have removed the female as he is pushing her away from the nest.
